We are pleased to present simultaneous shows of Ann Stautberg’s recent photographs and Richard Serra’s prints.

 

Stautberg works in Houston and has been long recognized for her stunning, dramatic, hand colored photographs. The most recent body of work goes beyond the artist’s backyard reaching into her surrounding neighborhood. The ideas of movement, which began with her hibiscus series, are enhanced upon through night walks. A spontaneous use of color dictated by car lights, the moon, and street lamps is now explored. 

 

A major retrospective of Richard Serra’s drawings will be shown at the Menil Collection in Houston from March 2 – June 10, 2012. We are pleased to present a selection of Serra’s prints during the run of his Houston show.

 

Serra’s graphic works possess a physical presence associated with ideas of weight, potential motion and perception found in his sculptures.

 

Barry Whistler Gallery is located in the Deep Ellum area of downtown Dallas at 2909-B Canton Street.  Regular gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, Noon to 5:00 p.m. and by appointment.
